FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ON SAPA WIRES STATEMENT ANC RESPONSE TO THE SATURDAY STAR, DATED 30 JANUARY 2010 REPORT ON THE “ANC WHISKY DEAL” The African National Congress (ANC) refute claims as reported by the Saturday Star, today, the 30th January 2010, which claims that “Chivas Regal is on the verge of becoming a preferred whisky supplier of choice to the ANC and the Youth League”. We would like to state it categorically clear that the ANC has no deal with Chivas Regal and does not intend to enter into such a deal in the future. This report is misleading, untrue and undermining of the ANC integrity and image. The report is not in keeping with the nature and character of the ANC. Regardless of the ANC earlier comments on this issue, the Saturday Star continued to report on it, thereby deliberately misleading the public and misrepresenting the ANC. The ANC will take up this issue with relevant authorities for recourse.
