SASCO March Despite all the prophecies of doom, SASCO had a very succesful march today. As promised by the Secreatry General, around a 1000 students attended the march. We must commend the fact that for a change our students were not victimised by police.
ANC and Higher Education The understanging of structure of ANC of education is very worrying. Almost all education desk of the ANC, where they exist, speak of education as if it ends at Matric. Very few of these desk discuss Higher Education. Polokwane Resolutions on Education The Polokwane conference took a very progressive resolution: to work towards free education up until the 1st degree. About 3 years later, there is no timeframe or a plan by the ANC on how this resolution is going to be implemented. This is disturbing beacuse it took the ANC led goverment about to 6 months to implement other resolutions (disbanding of scorpion, disolution of Umsobomvu and youth commission) of that conference. We as young people together with SASCO must take lead in planning for the ANC and forcing it to implement its own resolution. the ANC must remember that it was us students who campaigned on campuses for its victory. In order to make sure that it will win again in the next election, we must make sure it realises the promises made by its manifesto.
