Comrades I believe for the Commissioner to demand to be called a General now is a little bit out. But I laughed at this since our Ndosi really look like some of our renowned Generals in the continent. (Joke)
*Comrades I am one of the people who support reversion to the use of ranks by the SAPS also but believes that proper processes should be followed in doing this. Militarisation has got its type of discipline. Military and soldiering teaches PRIDE, ALERTNESS AND INSTRUCTIVE OBEDIENCE. Added to this I also proposed that mandatory military service, not conscription, be invoked. This has a hand in assisting the fight against crime, moral regenaration, cadre building/development, job creation and poverty eradication.* ** *Idling youth are central in a number of socio-economic challenges but I believe with military training that is located in community service much can be sourced by our country. We talk of curtailing tendering system and oursourcing. And we want some of the services to be built in-house. I believe soldiers in the Military Service can come handy in bulding houses under the new Housing Development Agency or in running the Expanded Public Works Programme or in leading infrastructural development under the Department of Infrastractural Development (DID). On graduating from the military service at least after a cycle of three years they would have acquired discipline, skills, experience and a level of maturity.* ** *Police are Social Workers as in social work under the Department of Social Development but are responsible for safety and security and what should they do when crime becomes sophisticated. When criminals conduct crime with military precision? What should they do when criminal uses high calibre machine guns? What should SAPS do when subordinates are forever charged with insubordination? RANKING SYSTEM RE-AFFIRMS THE NOW BLURRED HIERARCHY IN THE POLICE SERVICE. RANKING SYSTEMS IS ANOTHER WAY OF RECLAIMING THE STRANGLEHOLD OF TERRAIN FROM CRIMINALS ON BEHALF OF THE COMMUNITIES AND ALSO TO RECLAIM THE POLICING CULTURE FROM SOME ILL-DISCIPLINED SAPS MEMBERS.* ** *THIS IS NOT ABOUT ENJOYING SALUTING BUT ABOUT INVOKING RELEVANT WISDOM IN INSTILLING REVOLUTIONARY MORALS TO THE SOCIETY. I LIKE TO REPEAT THE FACT THAT MOST COMMUNIST PARTIES OF THE WORLD WERE DELIBERATELY MADE RIGID AND MILITARISTIC AND THIS SHOWED IN THEIR REVOLUTIONARY DISCIPLINES AT GIVEN TIMES OF THEIR REVOLUTIONS IN THEIR RESPECTIVE COUNTRIES.* ** *MZUKISI RONYUZA.* ** ** ** * * On 3/30/10, Patrick Craven <[email protected]> wrote: > > [image: popcru]*URGENT MEDIA RELEASE* > > *30 March 2010* > > * * > > * * > > *POPCRU REJECTS THE IMPRUDENT IMPOSITION OF THE RE-MILITARIZATION TO OUR > MEMBERS AND THE WORKING CLASS IN GENERAL* > > The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (POPCRU) deplores the > disingenuous and abhorable manner in which the Ministry of Police and in > particular the aspirant General National, Bheki Cele is handling the current > impasse around the re-militarization of the police services.
