The meaning of a court ruling on ayesaba amagwala song
As far as I know 90% of our revolutionary songs have to do with a
machine gun (which is for shooting/killing), white people who have
oppressed us, the capitalist etc. Is the court ruling against ayesaba
amagwala means we must do away with all these songs? As an African,
songs are one of the sources of history and when we sing these songs
in our gatherings we tell our history and at the same time motivate
ourselves to continue to fight. It can happen that what is in the
books of history may not massage everyone’s feelings, but that can’t
be a reason to erase that history. I believe that as members of this
movement we must defend our history, an attack to cde Malema is an
attack to the movement as a whole; hence he found this songs in this
very same movement.
I wonder how possible it is for a white person who don’t understand
the meaning of our traditions, could be able to give a just judgment
on issues related to our traditions in our culture /movement. Let why
you will always hear disturbing views about some of our African
traditions, because those views are from people who don’t understand
those traditions. What surprises me is that these very same courts
allow organizations such as AWB to exist, while their principles and
values contradict those ones of our constitution of a non racial non
sexist society.
