One good thing about engagement is that it clarifies issues whilst it can
become a cadreship development excercise. These points are negated when an
engagement stirs a negative personal reaction, like when one who is at fault
is insulted, he reacts to the insult and escape from correcting the fault.

There are very important points raised by Vincent, however in a manner that
one who will respond is likely to respond to the personal attacks are leave
the socioeconomic challenges raised, then the whole debate is derailed.
This is why young people in Limpopo's elective conference of the ANCYL were
derailed to lose an opportunity to raise sharp issues affecting the movement
and the country. Neoliberal tendencies find fertile ground in an
environment where revolutionaries are no longer guided by a revolutionary
theory, and a national liberation movement that is not guided by a
revolutionary theory becomes nothing more than a bunch of anarchists waging
a bourgeois struggle in competition for accumulation.

The day we'll go back to the basics of revolution we'll strive for people's
power or working class power and we'll have a low tolerance for the
neo-liberal tendencies we are witnessing today.
