*Youth leader's conduct of defiance* *Staff Reporter, The Star, Johannesburg, 21 April 2010*Over the past month Julius Malema has been living dangerously, defying the orders of the ANC and judiciary. It began on March 10.
* March 10, 2010: ANC Youth League president sings Dubul' iBhunu
("Shoot the Boer") at University of Johannesburg's Doornfontein
campus.
* March 26, 2010: The Johannesburg High Court rules that the song is
unconstitutional and unlawful.
* April 1, 2010: The Pretoria High Court grants an interdict
preventing Malema from uttering the words "Shoot the Boer", or any
other song that incites violence.
* April 2, 2010: Malema travels to Zimbabwe, where he is greeted at
the airport with Zanu PF supporters singing "Shoot the Boer". He
sings along.
During his visit he criticises the leader of the Movement for Democratic
Change, Morgan Tsvangirai, calling him an imperialist ally, and blaming
him for the political violence in Zimbabwe in recent years. He praises
Robert Mugabe and calls for Zimbabwe-style seizures of mines and farms
in South Africa.
* April 7, 2010: ANC secretary- general Gwede Mantashe tells
journalists that the ANC has decided that only its top leaders
will speak about Eugene Terre'Blanche's murder.
* April 8, 2010: At a news conference Malema sings a song about
beating up white farmers. He kicks out BBC journalist Jonah
Fisher, calling him a "bastard" and an "agent". Malema comments on
the death of Terre'Blanche.
* April 10, 2010: Zuma criticises Malema at a news conference in
Durban, saying Malema is "totally out of order" for continuing to
sing the "Shoot the Boer" song.
He says the ANC will not side with any one of the parties in exclusion
of others in Zimbabwe.
He slams Malema for chasing Fisher from the press conference two days earlier.
He says he has spoken to Malema about his conduct on the phone. - Staff Reporter
