Comrades
Allow me to pass my sincere greetings to the revolutionary martyr languishing
in the swaziland prison.
I spent some few hours last night thinking about the contribution he made in
his life towards the present SA.
My encounter with this son of the soil dates back in 1988, at Univen, he was
always at the forefront fighting for students' rights and the university
management always harrassing him as well as banning him from attending classes.
I remember his well built physique and millitancy when addressing students and
management during mass meetings. At meetings he would always dub the notorius
lecturers like Badenhorst and Fourie as "Host Full of Burden", during this time
"Dubula bhunu" was still banned, i mean it was a crime to sing this song as
prescribed by the government of the day, ironically today in 2010, the song has
been rebanned. As students participating in students' politics, i remember when
he was amongst a group leaders of SASCO to organize for us to attend a rally at
the then FNB stadium in 1989, during the release of the late Walter Sisulu &
Co. In 1990, some high schools around Venda started revolting ranging, reasons
being unfair treatment by management, ritual murderings, witchuntings, etc, as
SASCO's "back to school" Campaign, we went from one school to another
addressing them, i remember at one school the headman gave us a live chicken to
thank us for the role we played in encouraging learners to go back to the
classes. The reason i mentioned his militancy is that i could see that one day
he would join the People's army, MK. In 2005 i again met him in Polokwane where
he was working (Local Gov), we then chatted and exchanged numbers. The last
time again i met him at the funeral in Venda i think it was in 2005/2006, i was
happy to meet him again. When years progressed i kept on asking myself his
whereabouts, i was saved when i read from this forum that he is behind bars in
Swaziland. I'm always following the media, but i've never read anything related
and covered about comrade Amos, except from this forum. Can somebody clarify me
about the background leading to his arrest and implications.
Where are our leaders involvement for his release? This is the very same
comrade who was imprisoned during the apartheid era, i think he also
compromised his studies to make sure that he fought the poisonous government
and again he is suffering in the new era, what wrong did he do? Where are the
tenderpreneurs who were still wet behind ears when he dedicated his life to
freedom? Can they please stop jostling for fat tenders and posts and make
themselves loud to assist this martyr of our soil.
Comrades i'm not saying i know him very much, it 's just that i'm keen to know
about the developments around him.
