**** * * *Mmabatho Nursing College* The Congress of South African Trade Union and its affiliate DENOSA aredisappointed with the MEC of Health and the Premier of North West, both of whom have no interest in service delivery, the development of our province and the critical challenges facing our province on health issues The Department of Health led by the MEC is continuing to take our province back to the former Bophuthatswana and the apartheid government , so that when the working class and the poor people register their grievances or following the procedure to address their challenges with government, their governments resolve their issues or respond with an attack using the police. Both the Premier and the MEC were briefed in a formal meeting by the federation leadership in 2009 about problems facing the Mmabatho Nursing College. The last meeting with the Premier and the MEC agreed that the matter is receiving the attention of the Minister of Health for a final resolution to the critical challenges facing the nursing colleges and their students, not an eviction order. The MEC of Health, the Premier and their officials are not going to help this province. The MEC agreed that she will not act on anything until she has received the response from the Minister of Health. The Nursing College’s critical problems started in 2007 when empty promises were made by the same government led by officials who do not care about the future of our province. We were told publicly in the meeting that there has been no implementation of the college agreements due to funds being transferred to the FIFA World Cup. COSATU calls on the MEC to stop her illegal attitude of taking our studentsto courtandpaying money to lawyers for defending lazy officials, and to respect and respond to the public’s requests on matters of health. We are losing lives of poor people in many hospitals due to the negligence of doctors and nurses due to the poor health systems and poor political leadership in the Department of Health. A lot of incidents are taking place for civil claims against the Department of Health on matters of losing the lives of the poor people at the clinicsandhospitals. The court eviction will not resolve the College’s issues; it needs political maturity of people or leaders.
