*Request for a Retraction and an Apology*

The story that appeared on page 4 of The Times today with the headline "Jail Journalists -- Nzimande" refers.

After our telephonic discussion with your Mr Sthembiso Msomi we hereby write this official grievance to you and demand that The Times retracts the headline and unreservedly apologises for the damage created by this headline on the person and standing of the office of the General Secretary and the SACP as a whole.

The headline is misleading and creates the impression that when addressing the 89th Anniversary of the SACP the General Secretary of the SACP made the alleged remark. We put it to you that he never did. You are unable to produce any quote even in the story to substantiate this misleading sensational headline.

It is this kind of gutter journalism and sensationalism that we are exposed to on a daily basis that confirms the correctness of our assertion that we need a media tribunal in this country.

Your positive action is highly anticipated.

*Yours in Socialism*
