WOMENS MONTH On the 09 August 1956, Helen Joseph & Lilian Ngoyi led the 20 000 women march to Pretoria to protest against the pass laws. They were holding thousands of petitions in their arms, marching to the office of Prime Minister. Lilian Ngoyi was the one who knocked on the Prime Minister's office. The door remained closed, no respond, no honorable prime minister in the office. The Prime Minister had run away. The challenge is not so much on the men but on women. Women of today must start where women of 1950's left off. I call all women to play a pivotal role in our democratic South Africa. The concrete demands of the black man's situation demands that no energy must be wasted in the kitchen. All human resources must be mobilized. Let the women move out of the vast network of domestic traditions and occupy honorable places in the community. Women must capacitate themselves in order to be competent. They must not get the leadership position or high position due to because are woman, and must get leadership position because are capable and deserved it. They must be political orientated and must have a leadership skills, in order to lead our country Our society today are having the challenges that we must fight against domestic violence, abuse, emotional, financial or physical and human trafficking They must be like the women of 1950's. Let celebrate the women month in memory of the late women of 1950's and 156 women leaders arrested on charge of high treason and endured four years long trial By Solly Ndlovu -- You are subscribed.
