SACP NORTH WEST SPECIAL PEC MEETING PRESS STATEMENT
Saturday, 21 August 2010

The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the North West province
held a special Provincial Executive Committee meeting on Friday, 20
August 2010 – at the Matlosana council chambers.

The special PEC meeting discussed a range of issues amongst which was
the issue of the removal of the MEC of Sports, Arts and culture,
Comrade Grace Bothman Pampiri, and the issue of the ongoing public
sector struggle.

The SACP PEC resolved to re-affirm its total and unwavering rejection
of the removal of Comrade Grace Bothman Pampiri, it consistently
mentioned that it does not do this because of the fact that Comrade
Grace is a leader in the SACP but precisely because it is clear that
she was removed due to personal relations with the premier and the
acting HOD in her department.

The premier presented to us and the public the question of her
prerogatives as the premier of the province and based on that she
thinks there are no good relations between her and the MEC thus she
removed the MEC.

Based on the information presented to us, it is therefore accurate to
call for the immediate re-deployment of Comrade Grace and the
immediate removal of the premier as it is clear that she is too
personal than being a leader.

The premier has even in the media confirmed her friendship with for
instance the acting HOD in the Sports, Arts and culture department –
which again provide a clear picture of the kind of a person the
premier is. It will be noted that sometimes ago the MEC wrote a letter
to the premier providing her reasons to suspend Sam Mokaila, the
acting HOD – and the premier as it is publicly known, reversed the
MEC’s decision without even reasons for that but after the HOD wrote a
letter to the premier regarding issues pertaining to the MEC the
premier acted within a clap of a hand , hence our concern with the
manner in which the premier is leading the province.

Accordingly the MEC report was based on the manner in which the acting
HOD dealt with issues regarding the world cup, amongst others – in
which tenders were given to individuals who are related to some
tenderpreneurs in our movement. For instance the tenders for the
Public Viewing Areas (PVA’s) are still one of the main issues causing
divisions in the province and as such we are calling for thorough
investigations into this issue of the removal of the MEC and immediate
investigations into the entire department and other departments
including the office of the premier.
As the SACP we have openly declared a war on corruption and as such
who ever are standing on the way to a corruption free South Africa
will be removed by all means necessary.

In the final analysis on this matter, as the SACP in the North West we
have resolved to mobilise our cadres and commissars including those
who are sympathetic to the poor and the working class to reject
corruption and refuse to be used by some tenderpreneurs to whom we are
certain without a doubt that Ruth First is crying a dam full of tears
for they are masquerading as revolutionaries while at night are
partaking in the continuous abuse of power for their personal
interests.

The SACP in this province is calling for the re-calling of Maureen
Modiselle and the removal of Sakie Mofokeng from being the Chief
co-ordinator of the Provincial Task Team but ironically who is acting
as the Chief of political pawns to destabilise and further divide this
province – for instance again in the Matlosana local municipality, the
ANC Chief whip Bunga Ntshangani physically attacked the Mayor and
instead Saki Mofokeng promoted the Chief Whip to the District
municipality, the question was then, why?

As the SACP we shall use all possible avenues to engage Comradely so
the ANC around issues including the abovementioned but what we will
never do is to be bullied by a group of the 2012 tenderpreneurs
project led by some leading cadres in the movement including the
drumajorettes of the corrupt elite, manifesting themselves as a legacy
of the 1996 class project.

THE PUBLIC SECTOR STRUGGLE
As the SACP in the North West, we regard the ongoing public sector
struggle as part of a broader working class struggle against
capitalist exploitation and therefore we without any hesitation or
doubt support 100% the struggle.
We further call on all our cadres, Commissars and leaders including
those in government to use every means possible to ensure that we
practically support the struggle. We need to see the Red flag
representing the vanguard of the working class and the poor to be
providing leadership not only in theory and media statement but
practically marching, singing and struggling with the workers.

We further call on our leaders in all our Alliance structures to
desist from making public statements which are in the main
demonstrating their defiance of the strategy and tactics decisions of
the 2007 national conference – which states consistently that the
working class and the poor are the main motive forces of the National
Democratic Revolution (NDR). We find embarrassing for leaders to say
the issue of the struggle is being politicised, we think whoever is
politicising it, it them by refusing to ensure a speedy resolving of
this matter.
Again we call on the students and unions to support the struggle so
that it is resolved and the future of our country is not compromised.
COSAS as the leading learners organisation should be out mobilising
its members to support SADTU and reject the politically mislead
structures which are opposing the struggle because the parents who are
being exploited and expected to re-elect their exploiters are their
very parents.
