Sandile Mzi Khumalo Suspend officials accused of murder - SACP Aug 25, 2010 | Alfred Moselakgomo THE South African Communist Party in Mpumalanga has called for the suspension of two municipal officials implicated in the murder of its member, Dumisani Bomber Ntshangase. SACP has also accused Ezekiel King Sihlali, head of the department of health and community services, and housing manager Zakhele Abednego Mzobe, of being tenderpreneurs who will stop at nothing to loot the state. Sihlali, 38, and Mzobe, 54, were arrested last week for allegedly murdering Ntshangase. Police say on May 4, the two officials colluded with three others to kill Ntshangase, 47, an SACP member who was also an executive member of the Mzinoni, Secunda local negotiating group, at Bethal. Police spokesperson Captain Leonard Hlathi said the municipality had committed to upgrading the Mzinoni hostel to flats - a move the community opposes. "Ntshangase was seen as the main influence against the move by the municipality and he was then shot and killed in his hostel room," said Hlathi. Sihlali and Mzobe, together with Nation Mthethwa, Andile Mkhwanazi and Sputnik van der Merwe, a community liaison officer at Mzinoni township, have been implicated in the murder of Ntshangase. SACP spokesperson in Mpumalanga, Lesetja Dikgale said: "His (Ntshangase's) killing clearly shows that these tenderpreneurs will stop at nothing to achieve their objectives of looting state resources meant for the poor." "We call on the Govan Mbeki municipality to suspend the officials (alleged to be) involved in the assassination and appeal to community members to come in their number to Bethal magistrate court today to ensure that these criminals do not get bail." The five are applying for bail tomorrow. Attempts to get a comment from Govan Mbeki municipality yesterday were unsuccessful. ~ o O o ~ -- You are subscribed. This footer can help you.
