*NEHAWU supports the FETC summit*

NEHAWU sends a message of support to the incoming Further Education and Training College summit that will take place between the 3-4th of September 2010 at Birchwood Hotel in Johannesburg. The aim of the summit is to clarify the future and mission of the FET colleges starting with the stabilisation of the sector and the forward planning for 2011. This is long overdue and we hope that delegates will apply their minds is mapping the way forward for the benefit of all South Africans and the economy of the nation.

Education is very critical and the development of our economy and our people will depend on the cooperation of all stakeholders in mapping the future. The challenges that have engulfed our education system needs these kinds of gatherings where stakeholders can work together in identifying the challenges and also proposing the type of interventions needed to address these challenges. The union wishes all delegates well and hope their discussions will yield the desired results and will benefit South Africans to access quality education and training.
