Because young people are entering later and later into the labour market and finding jobs in sectors where sometimes trade unions are poorly represented and because trade unions in the past did not give them the space they deserve, young people often have a rather negative image of the trade union movement. They tend to perceive unions as too traditional, bureaucratic and hierarchical. It is therefore empirical that POPCRU start working hand-in-hand with young unionists to make the union an attractive and an open place for the young workers. Instead of waiting for young workers to come, POPCRU should reach out to them so as to better understand their concerns and needs and whatthey expect from the union. POPCRU should organize regular activities and special campaigns to inform young workers and organize them. Particular attention should be given to the needs and concerns of young women".And building alliances with [PYA]SASCO,COSAS,ANCYL,YCL and other progressive youth formations. Aluta continua!
