The deafening silence by the Minstry of International Affairs and Cooperation
on

the onslaught meted against COSATU Leaders and officials and other foreign
nationals, who visited Swaziland to support worker's call for freedom of
association and human rights for all is worrisome. Our counteparts in Swaziland
will not get a wink of sleep until all these outrageous, repressive and outdated
system of reducing the citizens as subjects is eroded.

Many have always regarded Swaziland as a sacred area that was annoited by God
for it's respect for culture and natural beauty but also there has been a veil
of secret on it's system of subjecting the citizens to sub-human treatment at
the expense of the royal family eating richly, living large and spending
handsomely abroad.

Many of the students who study in South Africa's elite institution such as
WITS,UJ and University of Westville have always wanted to keep secret their
nationality because in most instances, they are uncomfortable to discuss their
plight in their country.

Many we know, are coming to study through the King's approved scholarships, that
their parents and/or guardians are subjected to work for the king's fields to
cement the continuation of the offer. Many live far above some of their peers in
Swaziland because of the connections with the royal family and many continue to
suffer from HIV/AIDS infection, poverty, total reliance from donor's food aid and
unemployment.

Time has arrived for all SADC countries to disapprove the negation of freedom
of

association for Trade Unions in Swaziland and discontinue to illtreat activists
through the usage of the so-called sipakatane, a barbaric method of beating
victims with nails embedded on rods.

A time for dialogue must be accelerated. If Swaziland is at war with it's
inhabitants, the challenge of forced migration to other countries such as South
Africa,Lesotho and other parts will continue unabated.

We call upon all Swaziland in the Diaspora to come forward for Action!
