The YCL in the Eastern Cape has refused to recognise the newly appointed advisory board, saying the ANC Youth League's approach to deploy cadres into those positions is "unprincipled and uncharacteristic of an alliance partner". This follows a threat to take legal action by the North West YCL after it accused NYDA executive chairman Andile Lungisa of flaunting procedure and using the agency to further the interests of his party. Lungisa yesterday said the process of nomination and appointment of the NYDA provincial advisory boards was open to all young people and youth organisations. "The process was rigorous and spanned over five months," he said. But Mluleki Dlelanga, secretary of the Eastern Cape, said the YCL would not work with the board because it was sidelined when the "final provincial deployment list" was drawn up.
