YCLlogo20 Young Communist League of South Africa: Gert Sibande District, Mpumalanga Province
Statement on the Composition of the Mpumalanga NYDA Board and Subsequence Responses The Young Communist League in the Gert Sibande District is extremely puzzled and disappointment with the overall composition of all the NYDA provincial advisory boards in general and Mpumalanga Provincial Advisory Board in particular. With reference to the comments made by the provincial secretary of the YCL in the province of Mpumalanga, on the 17th October 2010 edition of City Press, we need to state it clearly that we support the inclusion of Cde Nhlakanipho Zuma's on the NYDA board. Having said this, we note with concern the lack of representation of the NYDA advisory board. It is unfortunate that the ANCYL sees itself as the only youth organization and in this way engages in an unpopular agenda to try and liquidate the Young Communist League. It has become very much apparent that the NYDA has potential to become a fiefdom within which the anti-communist element in the ANCYL can entrench its arrogance. The Young Communist League cannot celebrate as a result of this kind of unpalatable and undesirable state of affairs; we reject the 'one party board' out rightly. The YCL is committed to building a healthy and vibrant progressive youth alliance that is capable of responding to the challenges many young people in our province still face. We are certain that the composition of these boards was designed with the intention of destabilizing the internal operations of the PYA. A divided and dysfunctional YCL and PYA is the only thing the anarchists are interested in. It is only through anarchy that plundering can continue unabatedly. We believe that in as much as we differ on the composition of NYDA Board composition, maturity and discipline should remain paramount. The YCLSA in Gert Sibande District takes this opportunity to issue its view as it relates to the media statements attributed to the YCL Secretary in Mpumalanga and Provincial PYA latest weekend. We condemn in the strongest way possible the tendency of resorting to insults by making use of the media. We believe the statements attributed to YCL secretary, are an unfortunate occurrence and a foreign culture in the YCL. In the same vein, the response attributed to the PYA, which excluded the YCL, was in itself an attack on the office and person of the secretary of the Mpumalanga YCL. An eye for an eye will make us all blind. Young people throughout the province expect the PYA to discuss issues that interest them, to look into issues of unemployment, poverty and HIV/AIDS and how it will go about in putting into practice the nationalization of mines, fighting corruption and tenderpreneurship, defeating anti-communism and preparing for the local government elections. We are more determined and focused to fight corruption, dealing with unemployment, fighting tenderpreneurship, dealing with divisive elements within our organisation and alliance, and ensuring that we provide true and dedicated youth leadership. These are the things which the YCL represents, and if we are to be challenged for saying them, then let it be- but we believe that there are many in society who share these views.
