Cdes
When the NYDA was announced we all thought “yes” this is what we need
to deal with problems affecting the youth. But as things stands it
comes at the expense of our pya structures.
I have read and attended meetings where the issue of the Agency was
debated, and it is very sad to see how we as comrades are all
concerned about who is going to be part of the leadership of the
Agency instead of debating how we can help to add value to the Agency.
We were all supposed to worry about what we can do to make sure that
it succeeds not fail like the Umsobomvu Youth Fund and The Youth
Commission.
Many squabbles are no longer about things which add to the
organisation. This is sad because it is also happening in the YCLSA
where debates were always informative and interesting.
We are only concerned about who will lead the Agency in our area so
that we can get nearer to resources. SASCO had a Provincial Congress
in TUT Garankuwa the last weekend and we were all shocked on the
number of brown envelopes which were given to delegates. Then you ask
yourself where is this money coming from and why are cdes investing so
much money in a STUDENT ORGANISATION for that matter which must mostly
concentrate on the transformation of institutions of higher learning ,
then the explanation that comes after is that cdes wants to use their
PEC positions of SASCO to get appointed to THE NYDA. Then others want
to benefit from tenders which are issued by institutions of higher
learning. If they are in the PEC they will deploy the people they want
to be SRC presidents and then they will be eligible to sit on tender
boards, then their companies will be awarded this tenders. The
deployment policy of SASCO is being abused to achieve opportunistic
ends. When I first read the policy I felt that it was correct because
it minimises branch squabbles.
Cdes of Sasco in Gauteng have been reduced to voting cows, you book
them in a lodge you buy them alcohol and 20 Dunhill lights cigarettes,
you then give them brown envelopes, to them you are the best leader
that ever existed in Sasco. The saddest part is that this is happening
to new and young cdes. Do we expect to have a vibrant Sasco in the
future when we are killing this young cadres who must take over in the
near future, this can’t be correct. Sasco in Gauteng the past weekend
was handed in a platter to power mongers and corrupt individuals some
of them only register one module just to remain students.
After this Sasco Gauteng Provincial Congress it will be very difficult
to recruit new and young members to join Sasco because, when you do
that you are inviting them to come and join a training camp where they
will be taught how to be young Jackie Selebis of this world.
