THE SACP N WEST PROVINCE CONDEMNS IN ALL POSSIBLE TERMS ATTACKS ON FARMWORKERS Wednesday, 24 November 2010
The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the North west province calls on the police service to deal decisively and accordingly with white farmers who attacks black farmworkers in the province, especially those arrested for the attack on three black workers in Ottosdal, just after the postponement of the case relating to the killing of the chief extremist racist named Eugene Terreblanche. The SACP in the province further calls on our responsible state organs to thoroughly investigate the existence and modus operandi of the so-called Noord Wes racist group which was formed after Terreblnche was killed. The SACP in the North West find it very difficult to comprehend or understand the tendency of some institutions with regard to the manner they deal with cases were central to is racism . This is especially focused on the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), which has beyond our doubt demonstrated conniving tactics in favor of white racists farmers in this province, recently the NPA applied to object against bail for one of the accused in the Terreblanche murder case, it further showed that white farmers are more important and respected as opposed to Black workers in general and victims of racist treatment from white farmers. Again to confirm our view, the NPA is dealing with cases of this nature in highly problematic manners, in cases were white farmers are seen as being on the receiving end – the NPA acts speedily and appropriately but when Black farmworker are victims the NPA takes too much time unnecessarily – which poses a question as to in this province to who does the NPA account and who is in charge in terms of prosecutorial decisions in the province. We therefore calls on Menzi Simelane to consider investigating the conduct of the NPA in this province failure which the SACP will mobilize workers to fight against the NPA because in this province it is like they are now the enemy of the working class and the poor. As the SACP we call on all workers and especially COSATU led workers to rally behind a campaign to defend farm workers and give the state the mandate that it cannot be correct that police refuses to arrest criminals because they are white farmers until COSATU intervenes and Provincial commissioners are as a result giving instructions to the police to act accordingly – In our province we seem to be a federal province – where you have a white community that is independent, rich and racist while in the other hand you have the Black in general and African in particular a community receiving less respectful treatment from some state institutions, because it is poor and on the receiving end of racism.
