*SACP Convenes its Central Committee*


The SACP will convene the ordinary Plenary Session of the 12^th Congress Central Committee this coming weekend in Johannesburg. The meeting will be augmented to include SACP Provincial Treasurers, the 53 District Secretaries of the SACP, 10 delegates from the YCL, all our Provincial Gender co-ordinators, our Provincial Organisers and the alliance partners.

The purpose of the meeting will be to review the implementation of the 2010 annual programme of action, adopt the 2011 Annual Programme of Action, prepare for the 2011 local government elections, receive reports of the preparations for the forthcoming 3^rd National Congress of the YCL and receive progress on the preparations to host the 12^th International Meeting of Communist and Worker's Parties -- the first ever to be held in Africa.

All this discussion will be grounded on the political report that will be delivered by the General Secretary and the State of the organisation report that will be table for discussions. As part of our engagement with government work and emerging policy perspectives, the Minister of Police and the Minister of Economic Development will also make presentations at the meeting. Informed by the discussions and the interaction with the Minister, *the SACP will then announce its response to the proposed New Growth Path*.
