Young Communist League of South Africa:

Gert Sibande District, Mpumalanga Province

Yearend Message - Let's have a Communist Party

30 December 2010

The 2010 calendar year has been an event filled year. For the most part this
year will be remembered in the popular history of this country for the 2010
FIFA world cup. Let us put it on record that we believe that the FIFA world
cup was an anti working class project that siphoned hard earned workers
taxes to create a stage for the accumulation of profit for the neo
imperialists at FIFA.

The YCLSA would like to put emphasis on the events which the working class
youth consider to be highlights for the year.

* The periodic service delivery protests in Gert Sibande townships
* The protracted public service strike
* The 17th World Festival For Youth and Students
* The 3rd National Congress of the Young Communist League of South
Africa
* The launch of the New Economic Growth Path Framework

Conduct of Young People over Festive Period

As a revolutionary youth organization, we take pride in challenging and
changing social practices that perpetuate working class youth subjugation.
The YCLSA would like to call on all young people in general, its members in
particular to

. Party responsibly and those who engage in the unfortunate
anti-working class act of consuming alcohol to do so in moderation.

. Under no circumstances drive under the influence of alcohol

. Observe safe sexual practice

It is our considered view that alcohol and drug abuse acts as the lubricant
to domestic abuse, unprotected sex, reckless driving and more importantly
irresponsible financial management as a result an enemy to the development
of working class.

Education is a Right not a Privilege

We wait patiently for the results of the matric class of 2010, while we
vehemently oppose the common practice of issuing IEB exams before others.
Consistent with the drive by the Minister of Higher Education and General
Secretary of the SACP, Cde Blade Nzimande, we encourage all those that do
pass to pursue further educational opportunities especially at FET colleges.
We caution young people not to be victims of bogus institutions that
continue to steal from the working class in the name of affordability.

The YCLSA will be embarking on the Joe Slovo Right to Learn Campaign in the
New Year. We remain committed to the struggle for the provision of free
quality education until the first degree level. Education is an essential
cog in the struggle for the liberation of the working class from the yoke of
systematic poverty created by the capitalist system.

Many South Africans minds are preoccupied with the upcoming New Year
celebrations. We caution all parents to spare funds that will be used to pay
for the registration and school fess and school uniforms. Parents who are
negligent in discharging their duties of ensuring that their children of
school going age must be reminded that they are in contravention of the
constitutional Bill of Rights and Childrens Act.

Local Government Elections

Conscious of the frustrations of many working class communities still face
related to the delivery of basic services. Further conscious that there
still exists a tiny rouge fraction of ANC members and deployees whose sole
preoccupation is to use and misuse the ANC and access to the state for
selfish reasons. Notwithstanding these facts, the YCLSA still believes that
the ANC is still the best vehicle that can be used to achieve a democratic,
just and prosperous. Noting this reality: The YCLSA will be:

. Actively involved in the lobbying process to ensure that all
corrupt and lazy incumbent councilors are not re-elected as ANC candidates

. Support the implementation of a generational diverse candidate
list

. Mobilizing all its members to actively campaign for all
democratically elected ANC candidates.

The YCLSA also would like to wish all young people in Gert Sibande District
a happy festive period and pleasurable celebrations.
