SACP NORTH WEST PROVINCE IS CONCERN OVER ATTACKS AGAINST OTHER COMRADES Tuesday, January 18, 2011
The South African Communist Party in the North West province condemns the attack on members of the ANC in the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District, over the weekend. The attacks were according to reports aimed at members of the Regional Executive Committee (REC). It is in our view very unfortunate that those who are losing political battles are now resorting to violence and thuggery. The point that even guns were pointed at other Comrades forcing them out of cars, clearly indicates how criminals are hijacking the movement in general and the ANC in particular, it is in this context that we call on our leadership to intervene in these situations and in the other hand calling on the necessary law enforcement agencies to decisively deal with those responsible. Generally speaking, when people resort to violence as opposed to open, vigorous and honest political debates – it demonstrate how unthinking they are and we will never in this province succumb to cheap intimidation by some of whom are part of the new tendency in the movement called the y2k tendency. We will further engage the ANC in the province regarding this new method of engaging with differences, this is not only Un ANC but it is counter revolutionary and reactionary in essence.
