Dear Comrades There has been consistent deteriorating of political consciousness, and this has led to both the ANC and the broader alliance to failing addressing the social ills.
Leading towards the Local Elections we are having a tusk ahead, which in the Cosatu CEC's statement seek to address these fundamental contradictions, ours is to first understand these contradictions, either antagonistic or non-antagonistic. Thousand's of ANC comrades will avail themselves to serve our communities in Local government, the challenge is how many are worth the task. Patronage, corruption, and ternderpreneurs will be few of the many challenges that we as members of the ANC, SACP and COSATU have to nip out. But what is our immediate response to these challenges, are these "ANC guidelines" envisaging the Alliance to play a critical role. Comrade especially capable cadres are been targeted and victimized in these process, many cheque collectors are hell-bent to go to council, strategies are been put forth by factional groupings, and regions nor provinces have mechanisms to avoid these challenges, its true "*What is to be done?*". Comrade Vavi and the entire COSATU leadership is but better positioned to help, but it main problems are at branch levels. We have groupings that have proactively planed for who should be in and who should be not, through the productions of List "factional Lists". Many of the disciplined comrades have moved back and watched as these processes unfolded, it is true that the ANC remains "*The stratergic center of power*", it is the same reasons that many comrades have resorted to un-principled tendencies, patronage and functionalist. Contestations in our branches are informed by material gains that are attached to being a government representative. we are all aware that many of our dear comrades are not credible cadres to be in these positions of government, but it is one, because of lack of job opportunities (decent work) many of us want to be in government. And comrade Thabang the SACP and Cosatu yes remains in supporting the policies and discipline of the ANC, its support is historic and constructive rather than offensive and rhetoric, but in no time has both COSATU and SACP supported corrupt, factional and unprincipled behavior of ANC comrades. You would agree with me that since the ANC is a multi-class organisation its venerable to all these things that the SACP and COSATU are against, that is Capitalists, Corrupt individuals, Nationalists, Petty-Bourgeoisie. By thus you can also find communist and workers in the ANC. the only question is how influential are they. Or better yet how conscious are workers in the ANC, to know when to take responsibility of the well being of it, it is mostly at times that the workers are the ones who are easily bystanders or easily influenced to stand by the side of these corrupt individuals.
