POPCRU remembers the comrade collegiality of Cde Josephine Kekana POPCRU extends its heartfelt condolences for the passing on of Limpopo Gender and Paralegal Coordinator, Cde Josephine Kekana, who passed on the 28th January 2011 after a short illness.
She was one of revolutionary leaders, who took the 06th National Congress Resolutions and other organizational tasks serious, to enhance the development of women leaders across all our structures. And she was schooled in understanding that Worker Control is one of the key principles in which progressive Trade Unions are found and became part of the leadership collective to building strong and vibrant Gender Structures across all Locals. Cde Kekana displayed herself as a real life-long learner by availing herself to participate on many Trade Union programmes, amongst others, Paralegal matters; HIV/AIDS Train the Trainer and Basic Shop Steward. And true to her selflessness she became a Shop Steward at Magatle Police Station until she became a Full-time Shop Steward at the Provincial Office. Her organizational collegiality steeled with astute organizing and recruiting skills made Limpopo to become a growing Province on membership. Cde Kekana was committed to the realization of labour peace, social justice and humanization of the working class in general and stood for the Unity and Growth of POPCRU as progressive force in the Criminal Justice. Such impeccable and selfless virtues of a true public service cadre must be applauded. She will be buried at Limpopo, Zebediela [Rakgwatha] on the 05th February 2011. May her soul rest in peace!
