From: Mzwandile Dlabazana Sent: 02 March 2011 04:19 PM To: '[email protected]' Subject: Racism on government In the Mass Democratic Movement we have always been taught to always strive to maintain a culture of encouraging comrades to voice their opinion as fully as possible, because we believe that a culture cannot exist without a stream of ideas and the alert independent minds who originate them. It cannot exist without a philosophy of life, without those who formulate and express it. We also encourage comrades to exercise inner party criticism because we see it as a weapon which could strengthen our Mass Democratic Movements in moving forward with our National Democratic Revolution, but on the same vein we equally caution comrades to use the method and space of correction not as an instrument for personal attack which in this case comrade Trevor seems to be doing. Rosa Luxemburg once said "the final goal, no matter what it is, is nothing, the movement is everything" and in this case the ANC is everything. Comrade Jimmy Manyi has apologized for his utterances and the ANC has welcomed his apology, therefore the movement which is everything to comrades who respects the culture of democratic centralism has no squabbles with comrade Jimmy, then who are we to have squabble with him. Comrades let us speak historically, the errors committed by a truly revolutionary comrade are infinitely more fruitful than the infallibility of the counter-revolutionary amongst us. The utterances raised by comrade Jimmy no matter how wrong they might be, but one thing they do, they make us to ask very pertinent question of how far are we with the national question? Comrade Manuel as a senior leader of our movement can't treat the present as if the present has had no history, but what he seems to achieve with his open letter is the a general feeling of distrust of the validity of his ideas.
