POPCRU KZN continues with the Provincial March against DCS
POPCRU Kwazulu-Natal will hold a Provincial March on the 17th March 2011
against
the intransigence of the Department of Correctional Services pertaining to the
imposition of the Shift System and the disregard of the Labour Court Order to
stop the implementation on same. And the March will be attended by Gauteng,
Free
State, Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga.
This comes after the Special Extended National Executive Committee held on the
26-27th
February 2011 took Resolutions, amongst others,
* Demanding a stoppage on the implementation of the shift system by
lower
ranking officials as the Labour Court Order outlined,
* Demanding the removal of KZN Regional Commissioner for underming the
adherence to the Labour Court Order, and
* Demanding that the Minister of Correctional Services to intervene on
the
basis that we are losing the confidence of the National Commissioner due to
absent leadership.
The march will be convened as follows;
Date: 17th March 2011
Time: 10H00
Gathering Point: Dalles Park [Pietermaritzburg]
Destination: KZN Legislature, Pietermaritzburg
Routes to be used: The march will commence from Dalles Park, proceed to Berg
Street then turn left into West Street, proceed up the road then turn left into
Long Market Street [Langalibalele Street] and proceed to the Legislatures
Offices where a Memorandum will be handed over. Thereafter the masses will
proceed to Publicity House where everyone will disperse.
