*CWU ON SOLOMON “KALUSHI” MAHLANGU DAY*

*06 April 2011*

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) today remembers one of our own, a
leader of the African National Congress (ANC), a Commander of the UMkhonto
We Sizwe (The Spear of the Nation) and the son of the soil, Cde Solomon
“kalushi” Mahlangu.

In view of the fact, that this month is regarded as hero’s month, we
remember Solomon “Kalushi” Mahlangu and other fallen heroes as fearless and
brave leaders who would not allow leaders to insult journalists and
leadership, tarnishing and backstabbing our own Comrades through media and
other forms of counter revolutionary tendencies.

Kalushi as he was popularly known, did not regard himself as an independent
thinker in his organisation, he always knew that he belonged to an
organisation that he loved and was guided by the principles and discipline
of this organisation that he died for and he will not go outside his own
organisation like what we have seen in previous time.

We believe that Kalushi will be turning in his grave to hear that his own
comrades are fighting for tenders and killing one another for power. This is
not what this gallant leader fought for and died for during the dark days of
the minority regime. He always knew that leaders are elected to lead and
serve the people, not to enrich themselves at the expense of the poorest of
the poor.

As CWU, we are inspired by Kalushi, a true revolutionary and fearless leader
who would not connive with the media to tarnish the integrity of his own
comrades. CWU will honour this leader by organising its members in all
sectors particularly the Western Cape to oust the DA and put ANC into power,
because we are guided by his words when he said: "*My blood will nourish the
tree that will bear the fruits of freedom. Tell my people that I love them.
They must continue the fight."*

CWU is going to continue the fight in the coming local government elections
and take over Western Cape from DA.
