Media Release 16th May 2011 POPCRU pays tribute to Cde Mofapa Frans Mohlala [1962-2005] It’s that time of the year to commemorate the life and times of a revolutionary par excellence, a unifier, an astute strategist, a commissar, a Marxist-Leninist Educator and a life-long scholar born at Mamotintane Village in Limpopo, who blossomed into a national figure in fighting for freedom for all of our generations. POPCRU on the eve of the Local Government Elections to build Organs of People’s Power, pays its homage to the late former ANC Chief Whip of Limpopo Legislature, Cde Mofapa Frans Mohlala, who met his untimely death whilst coming back after addressing a parliament of workers of the mind-SADTU on the 16th May 2005 at Mamokgalake Chuene College Hall, Motetema. During that period, he was also the Head of Elections and was involved in a fatal accident near Zebediela which robbed the Congress Movement a true ANC Volunteer. Cde Frans was a generation of Cde Peter Mokaba, Cde Castro Pilusa, Cde Peter Nchabeleng and many others who made apartheid machinery orchestrated through the Lebowa Bantustan ungovernable through launching of Students Organizations and Mkhonto We Sizwe Operations around all areas in the current Limpopo Province. He was classified as enemy number of the system of apartheid which made South Africa majority slaves on their motherland. They fought until Lebowa collapsed and all people were free through the 1994 democratic breakthrough. As we approaching the polling stations, we are calling all members of POPCRU to honour his loyalty, commitment and sacrifices in fighting for the freedom we achieved and so much cherish by voting for the African National Congress on the 18th May 2011. True to the character of the caring nature of the ANC, President Jacob Zuma reopened the Provincial Office named Frans Mohlala House during the occasion of the 99th Anniversary Celebration in Limpopo in January 2011. His revolutionary hooves will clatter throughout generations to come and we shall look upon comrades of his calibre for organizational unity, enhancing of sustainable quality services at all spheres of governance and consolidation of working class power and hegemony. A Combatant for life and Patriot to the end!
