 PCF Press Release, 20 May 2011 PCF supports Alexander Moumbaris The BDS campaign opposes Israeli colonialism and in particular promotes the boycott of the products of the settlements. It aims to fight the illegal policy of the Israeli leaders taking into consideration international law and resolutions of the United Nations. The PCF is part of this legitimate campaign and affirms its support for anyone pursued by the courts - today it is Alexander Moumbaris - because they act, within their rights, against Israeli colonization in Palestine. French Communist Party, Paris, 20 May 2011 Note: Alex Moumbaris is set to appear in court at Flers in France on Tuesday, 24 May 2011, charged with making a "Public call to discrimination". Moumbaris is accused of having published, in issue 140 of the Press Newsletter (BIP), the article "Boycott Divestment Sanctions (BDS) 2010" summing up the BDS Campaign of France and successes of the boycott campaign in the world during 2010. Alex Moumbaris was imprisoned for seven and a half years in Pretoria Central until he escaped together with Tim Jenkin and Steven Lee in 1979. In 1981 Moumbaris established the first office of the ANC in Paris, and was at ANC Chief Rep Dulcie September’s side in 1988 when Cde Dulcie was shot and killed in Paris. Many other organisations have expressed support for Cde Moumbaris, internationally.
