POPCRU is livid about sexual assault on women by Police Officers

POPCRU has reiterated its condemnation of police officers who undermine the
integrity of their services to the masses by sexually assaulting women and
girls
in the line of duty and/or off-duty. This comes after a seminar addressed by
the
Deputy Minister of Police, who articulated a view that rapes by police officers
is on the rise.

The unethical and improper act by members is contrary to the spirit of our
Constitution Chapter 18, Section 24, Subsection 24.16 which vividly outlines
that “unprofessional conduct shall includes, amongst others, sexually harassing
others”.

POPCRU will continue to subscribe to the natural principle of justice which
says
any person shall remain not guilty until proven otherwise.

And such cases must be investigated to deliver justice speedily as many of
workers are put on long suspensions with less attention to resolve such
allegation urgently by Management.

We are calling our membership to refrain from such un-candid behaviour as it
tarnishes the image of the service in general and the organization in
particular.
