*SASCO statement on the passing away of Ma-Albertina Sisulu* * *
*06 June 2011* ** The South African Students Congress joins millions of South Africans who are today mourning the passing away of Ma-Albertina Sisulu. We are saddened by the loss of this stalwart of the liberation struggle. We send our condolences to her immediate family for this loss of an elder. We are proud of the fact that in her youth and in her old age, Ma-Sisulu fought to ensure the liberation of Africans in particular and blacks in general from the yoke of apartheid and she played her part without ever vacillating. We want to assure her that we will continue as the student movement and advance the struggle beyond just the achievement of formal democracy but towards socialism. We call on the entire liberation movement to learn lessons from the life of Ma-Sisulu and respect the poor majority and ensure that they do not use their access to political office means access to personal accumulation. *For details Contact:* *Mbulelo Mandlana (President)* *071 879 3408 * *Or* *Lazola Ndamase (Secretary General)* *082 679 8718* -- You are subscribed.
