The Young Communist League of South Africa [Ufasimba], Eastern Cape Province
is deeply concerned about issues that seek to delay progress in the
Province. The issues are as follows:
*SECTION 100 (b*)
The Young Communist League of South Africa is deeply concerned about the
intervention by the National Minister of Basic Education in the Eastern Cape
Department of Education and Training that seeks to take over the whole
Department. The Education Department have been in crisis for a while. As the
Young Communist league we fully support the South African Communist Party
decision to reject Section 100 (b), where National Department of Education
is totally taking over the administration of Department of Education and
Training without briefing the Alliance.
As YCLSA we will never accept an intervention that is not owned by Alliance
structures in the Province. Education is a societal issue therefore briefing
to Alliance structure is paramount. We strongly believe that Section 100 (a)
is the only option that will serve to benefit the Education Department. We
therefore call for the reviewal of intervention in the Eastern Cape
Department of Education and Training; we want an intervention that will be
anchored around MEC Makhupula and Superintendent –General Advocate Mannya.
We need an intervention that will add value and benefit the people of the
Eastern Cape in particular poor learners from deeply rural areas of the
Province.
Since MEC Mandla Makhupula and Advocate Mannya took over we have witnessed a
significant improvement and they must be given a space to lead. We cannot
fold our arms when the Department is being changed to be a Breeding ground
for tenderpreneurs instead of focussing its core business which is teaching
and learning. We further say local businesses as in line with Local Economic
Development must benefit to any intervention from National to the Province.
The YCLSA fully support the leadership of MEC Mandla Makhupula and
Superintendent – General Modidima Mannya, they must be given a chance to
lead. We also would like to place on record that Mathanzima Mweli is not a
solution in the problems facing the Eastern Cape Department of Education and
Training as he has been there before in the Department without any
improvement. His presence in the Eastern Cape Department of Education and
Training is the disaster for the poor learners and students in the Province
and it’s not in the interests over 2 Million Eastern Cape learners.

*DISGRUNTLENT ANC MEMBERS IN MBIZANA*
* *
We have witnessed a deliberate disruptions and burning of community hall and
municipality property burn down at Mbizana Local Municipality by so called
disgruntled ANC members. We call the Provincial Leadership of ANC if really
part of the people that burnt down Mbizana Local Municipality property are
ANC members must be dealt with immediate effect. We want to place on record
that some of the people that keeps on destroying and saying the ANC list was
changed by leadership , during local Government Election they were
independent candidates , now they have lost the election they destroy
everything that come across them , this act of action is extreme
counter-revolution which need decisive action by ANC.
*CRISIS AT WALTER SISULU UNIVERSITY (WSU)*
The Walter Sisulu University has been in crisis ever since the merger of
this Institution. The crisis derives from the management capability to
manage the University finances. As the Young Communist League every year we
been part of resolving crisis when the University students go on strike
citing a number of challenges that others have been resolved whilst other no
attempt to resolve at all.
We call the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Cde Blade Nzimande to
speed up his intervention plans at Walter Sisulu University .The whole saga
of denial where someone adopts the crisis and other one deny crisis.
Students continue to be part of crisis that is not their own creation. The
end results of the whole saga affects hugely students from poor families as
the total enrolment of students studying in the Walter Sisulu University are
from working class background and peasantry.
