Media Statement
23rd June 2011
POPCRU salutes Cde Asmal for serving the masses
It is saddening for the working class to mourn the passing of a colossus of
reason within the Month of Heroes and Heroines, with the passing on of Cde
Kadar
Asmal.
Cde Kadar was one of the many comrades during the apartheid who challenged the
narrow distribution of resource to a minority grouping. And he continued
post-apartheid era, to put on the centre-stage to advocate vigorously
championing the importance of humanizing our people through quality service
delivery mechanisms, to change their lives.
In his public service as a representative in parliament, he became a hope to
many through his constituency work to promote participatory democracy.
Many during his life and times coined a nickname for him by saying “Papa
Action”
and indeed he lived to the high expectations of his constituency.
We celebrate a life worth lived for freedom of our people;
An astute Pedagogue,
A Polished Cadre,
A Life-long Learner.
POPCRU extends its heartfelt condolences to his family members, relatives,
comrades and the entire nation on his loss.
May his soul rest in peace.
