Cdes we woke up to great & encouraging news which are worth noting & mentioning. First the going to the skies by the SANTANGO [the Taxi Association] which represent 90% plus of taxi owners & secondly the launching of cultural-heritage project whereby young people will inducted in to African cultural system, in an effort to build moral fabric required to enable youth to have good judgement & profound life skills.
The SANTAGO initiative will go a long way in insuring access of ownership & control by previously disadvantage groups & individuals of the interests in the airline industry. We should find ways as communists to support entreprenual initiatives like this, because indeed they promote social economy & broad build & redistribution of wealth. Unlike narrrow BEEs that have only enriched family members of politicians, cronies & girl friends. When the President of SANTAGO was interviewed, he said their mission & vission is to make airline mode of transport accessible & available to the working class & the poor, so that they dont have find themselves with no option but travel long hours on road transport. The second one is close to what our organisation Sebata-Kgomo Foundation is trying to achieve in its regional project of driving socio-economic development of Sekhukhune communities through social economy. We therefore as community Trust [Public Benefit Organisation] duly registered with the Master of the High Court North Gauteng call on Cdes from Sekhukhune [not limited to Sekhukhune] especially communists to become part of this noble idea of unchaining our communities from shackles of poverty, underdevelopment & dependency. Our concept is an illustration as to the extent by which social cohesion & solidarity can revolutionize the lives & future of our people, who their well being & welfare is threatened by new tendencies associated with greed, selfishness, self centredness, Get rich at all costs mentality, indidualism & lack empathy & philanthropy. Albeit that our people have benefited from Government programs of development, there is growing concession in many corners & guarters that a lot is still left to be done to achieve freedom envisaged in the freedom charter & other instruments of liberation. Social Cohesion & solidarity are not an option if we are serious about unlocking doors towards development. On urgent basis we need to open a South African chapter of the social forum. we appreciate that there will be differences between all of those we are hoping to persuade to become involved, and that we must not hide or dilute them. Being open about our differences , and being ready to listen and learn from them is not a romantic notion at times likes this, but an absolute necessity. The crucial issue is, can we work together for change? We have to aknowledge that all of our constituencies, social & political movements, unions, FBO's etc are not as strong as they once were. There has been a long period of considerable demobilization, there is a new critical space opening up. How we analyse this space, & what meaning it has for us requires much more discussion, but we are certain that it exists, & that we must grasp it. Doing nothing could be catastrophic. The development of Tjate & other heritage sites & resources, the National Heritage liberation Route [with potetial budget of billions], the tourism route etc will mean nothing to the local If all is done for them without them. We therefore commit ourselves as Foundation to work towards a major project as proposed in our concept document to achieve the set goals & objectives in collaboration with identified strategic partners & further commit ourselves to an open & inclusive process, & we are looking forward for maximised interaction. This is not going to be easy, but we hope that you will join us & share the load. Another world must be possible. We invite Political organisations, municipalities, civil society orgaisations, FBO's, Heritage organisatiions, individuals etc to be part of this chapter. *Malekate Maditsi* *Sebata-Kgomo Foundation* *E-mail: **[email protected]* <[email protected]> *Fax No: 086 297 4652* *Tel No: 012 358 1464* *Cell No: 073 779 5229* -- You are subscribed.
