*DA Provincial Government must be probed* * * *15 August 2011* We are extremely perturbed by reports contained in Sunday Newspapers that the DA run Western Cape government has been flouting tender processes in order to award illicit tenders to cronies. Is this the same DA that often yelps about its impeccable record of “clean governance”? The flouting of tender processes is a crime of the worst order and is sheer disrespect for our constitution and our bill of rights. We view these allegations in serious light and we would want to see an end to this kind of behaviour in the public sector as soon as possible. It is within this context that we call on the public protector and the special investigations unit to investigate these allegations of impropriety by the DA government, and we call on these institutions to leave no stone unturned in trying to get to the bottom of this. We also call on a concerted investigation of the whole Western Cape Provincial Government and Municipalities to determine how much money is being lost to illicit tender processes. We are also of the view that illicit tender processes will not end in Municipalities, Provincial Governments and in National Departments without the communities affected not doing anything to put an end to this. That is why as an organization we call on the community of the Western Cape to rise up and march against this form of sheer disregard for good governance that has been reported about the DA run Western Cape Government. * * *Contact:* * * *Mbulelo Mandlana, President, 071 879 3408* * * *Or* *Lazola Ndamase, Secretary General, 082 679 8718* -- You are subscribed.
