*DO OR DIE FOR TELKOM, SAPO & TRUDON* * *
*CWU & Telkom Dispute on Gainsharing* * * *24/08/2011* Today *24 August 2011, *the* *Communication Workers Union (CWU), SACU and Solidarity will be meeting Telkom at the* *CCMA for the commissioner to arbitrate on the interpretation and application of the “Gainsharing Model” as CWU believes that these bonuses were paid inconsistently and unilaterally, offering its senior managers about 70% of the total money that was available for this purpose. Our members in these sectors have made it loud and clear that they will act jointly with members of SACU and Solidarity in a crippling mass action should the employers in the Information, Communication Technology (ICT) sector not heed their demands. On this issue of substantive negotiations, CWU has learned that Telkom has revised its shameful and insultive salary offer and pleaded with the CCMA not to issue a certificate of non resolution as yet. CWU has since the beginning of substantive negotiations shown its negotiability by reconsidering and altering some of its demands with no movement from Telkom at all. Now that it seems that Telkom is coming to its senses, CWU will meet the company on the *26 August 2011 [Friday], *optimistic that Telkom will do the right thing by accepting the workers’ well deserved demand of *10%* as Telkom’s *5%* will never be acceptable to the union. CWU’s observation is now confirmed that Telkom’s actions are tantamount to “ *outsourcing of negotiations** and an act that can be regarded as a “refusal to bargain*”, as they are only starting negotiations now after being instructed by the CCMA. We believe that “*the supposed to be*” substantive negotiations record bears testimony to this and we believe that the CCMA must caution Telkom in this regard, while CWU must re-engage Telkom on their understanding of “negotiations” and future engagements. Our members in these sectors have made it loud and clear that they will act jointly and in unison with the members of SACU and Solidarity (Telkom Unions) in a crippling mass action should the employers in the ICT sector not heed their demands. This anger will be demonstrated by some of CWU members’ presence at the CCMA proceedings on both the 25th & 26th August 2011. *South African Post Office (Sapo)* CWU will also be meeting the Sapo under the auspices of the CCMA on the *25 th August 2011 [Tomorrow]*. The same message has been sent to SAPO that our demand of *11%* is both reasonable and doable and CWU will not at all; consider SAPO’s current *6, 5%* particularly in view of the millions of Rands that have been confirmed to be misappropriated in a systematic and obviously conspiratorial manner by those in senior positions in SAPO. *Contact:* * * *Matankana Mothapo, National Spokesperson - 0827590900* -- You are subscribed.
