Is this confirmation that cde Julias will be expelled ??its worrying these
statements (if true)were uttered by the secretary before the dc hearing ,why is
he not then releasing the names of the interim committee ??am sure many can see
through this bullyism .does the statement not bring the ANC into disrepute???

Julias poison ??is this not name calling ???

He also went on to attack the trade unions ,on their take on the mogeng matter
,will the vanguard party rise up!!are we now supposed to be a movement of
agreements only ??

I remain left and refuse sycophancy

I do agree with the SG - some discipline needs to be instille across the board
- the is a lot of trampling on the values of the struggle - total revamp of
conduct of all should be guided by the principle that found this movement - Wha
does this mean "slave politics", - VC you might be able to help

We will not flinch - Mantashe

Angelique Serrao, The Star, Johannesburg, 6 September 2011

GWEDE Mantashe believes Julius Malema is a poison that needs to be rooted out
of the ANC for the good of the party.

This was the thinly veiled message the ANC secretary-general gave in a speech
at the Food and Allied Workers Union conference in Joburg last night.

Mantashe spoke about an ANC that needs to find its values again; a movement in
which leadership is respected and democratic debate is the order of the day
instead of threats and power battles.

He also said criticism of Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng being made chief justice was
nothing more than an attempt to undermine President Jacob Zuma.

"We need selflessness; you need to give your soul to the movement. Not what
everyone is doing at the moment, joining the ANC because it creates an
opportunity for self-enrichment. We must get rid of this tendency," said
Mantashe.

While Mantashe used Malema's name only once, it was obvious he was referring to
the youth league leader and violent protests by his followers in Joburg last
week.

"I have been accused of being hard on Malema and that we will lose the support
of the right wing because of it. But we cannot tolerate terrible behaviour when
you are part of a structure. If the ANC takes a decision, we stick to it,"
Mantashe said.

He added that when higher organs made a decision, it must be accepted by the
lower organs even if they don't like it.

"It's a respect for leadership," Mantashe said, referring to values he said
needed to be instilled in the party such as humility, dignity and discipline.
"We need to look at the values that guide our movement; the ANC must not be
preoccupied with internal politics."

He said that because people were allowed to do things at the ANC's Polokwane
conference, that did not mean they should feel they could do so now.

Mantashe said they would not be held hostage to "slave politics", and that the
ANC needed to root out negative elements.

"We must put our foot down and say we have values. We will not blink, we will
not flinch. The ANC is like an animal. It's slow at first and takes its time,
but when it comes it is so fast, you won't see it.

"There are those who think they are popular enough to influence that. But you
are popular because you are in the ANC; when you are no longer in the ANC you
will be nobody," Mantashe said.

He added there must be debate about unemployment, poverty and the
nationalisation of mines, and that unions needed to play a bigger role.
