Cde you are saying that ANCYL and YCL cadres must observe without
action the use of SASCO as an employment bureau. We witness in many
Institutions SAsco being used by a cohort of friends to access tenders
and to solicit sadly even sex from helpless female cadres.
Those who have the interest of students at heart must do anything
necessary, if needs be contest SASCO to stop this nonsense. We are
proud products of SASCO but we must never be blind loyalists to few
dishonest individuals. How do you explain a situation where one
becomes a leader of SAUS for more than two terms? Is this a union of
students or an employment agency for cadres? Some even by BMW 130's
with money that is suppose to serve poor students. Are you saying that
we must allow sasco to be used by these elements?
Cadres must study, finish their certificates and look for employment.
If you are in SASCO for more than ten years and we don’t even call you
a Doctor or at least a PHD candidate you are in a wrong place.
As long as Sasco is in limbo I don’t blame any structure that will
contest elections and champion the interest of students from the
working class background. After all there is no leader of the PYA and
there is no LAW which says that institutions of higher learning are a
terrain of Sasco and the YL and YCl must not organize there. You lead
the PYA by programmes. If SAsco's programme is one of amassing wealth
and abandoning poor students we need another PYA structure to come and
rescue us.

The Progressive Youth Alliance(PYA) is made up of ANC YL, YCL SA, SASCO and
COSAS. The PYA is a block that is expected to have regular meetings and
programes of the youth development continuously and consistently. The PYA is
existing at all levels from branch up to national level. They are different
structures with rights of their own to take their own decision but
NOT contest
each other in any structure of governance such as SRC. In the PYA,only SASCO
and COSAS contest and lead SRC structures in tertiary and secondary level
institutions respectively. ANCYL and YCLSA can only give political
backing and
support because their teritories are in the communities. I instances where we
have branches on YCLSA and ANCYL in these academic institutions, we only have
them for enhancement of political capacity to students and probably
the working
togetherness with SASCO or COSAS.
The decision by ANCYL to contest elections is very wrong, it is opportunistic
and dishonest. It is tartamount to breaking the alliance and writting of new
history in our revolutin. They decided to contest SASCO in Fort Hare and WSU.
The provincial secretary of ANCYL in Eastern Cape defended the move
by claiming
that people are jelous of popularity of ANCYL in these institutions. The
comrade
might not be aware that all ANCYL members are former members of
SASCo in those
institutions but left SASCO only because of political differences and went to
form ANCYL branches to settle political scores. How can you participate in
destroying SASCO branch and form ANCYL branch in the same place? is that
revolutionary? definately not but counter revolutionary because SASCO is ANC
MDM structure with a responsibility to advocate for the needs of students.
These debate is not new at all. The first time i heard about it,
Malusi Gigaba
was the ANCYL president, it came again in Fikile Mbalula's time but was
disputed because it is not politically correct.
