CWU statement proves nothing, but an insult to the ANC youth league and its
members.CWU represents majority of discuoraged, vulnerable, labour brokered and
underpaid membership.

It is suprising that such a union representing such a strata of the labour
force could stand firm and point a finger on president Malema, members and other
people who find it relavent to support such a course.

My questions to CWU remains:
Do you, as the union believes going to a conference centre and listen to
ministers telling you what path to be followed in creating employment, will it
then get rid of labour brokering,if the answer is no, then so what?

Do you, as the union believes that going to the conference centre and discuss
how to create employment will help to solve conditions members of your union do
find themselves in,if the answer is no, then so what?

Do you, as the union believes in changing the conditions of your members, if
the answer is yes, then so what?

Do you as CWU, knows properly the conditions that your members are facing, if
the answer is yes, the what is wrong with the ANCYL marching to the presidency
to demand for abolishment of labour brokers, land and houses for the poor,
electricity and proper sanitation?

Do you as the union, believes that such a decision to boycott the ANCYL mass
action and if a desicion to do so was based in consultation with your members,
i mean the same members who are labour brokered would have agreed with you and
if you are not certain of your answer, then so what?

Then so what?

CWU SUPPORTS SECOND YCL JOB FOR YOUTH SUMMIT

25/10/2011

The Communication Workers Union (CWU), the largest union in the Information,
Communication and Technology (ICT) sector, an affiliate of Cosatu supports the
second Job Youth Summit organised by Young Communist League (YCL SA) of the
South African Communists Party (SACP). CWU appreciates the initiative of the
Young Reds, YCL SA to mobilise all young people from all different political
parties, civil society organisations and government to find solutions on
clouded youth unemployment in our country.

CWU will fully participate in this summit to seek guidance and intervention
from public and private sectors particularly ICT Sector, where we as the union
we organise, to create jobs and empower young people in our country. We are
convinced that this summit will come up with the resolution of championing the
interest of young people and not play with the mind of young people by marching
to President J.G Zuma’s house. As CWU, we are of the view that they are no Jobs
in President Zuma’s house.

CWU wishes you all the best in your summit.
