*YCL supports the UNI Global Union in its quest to combat youth
unemployment *

The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] fully supports the
initiative by the UNI Global Union to force the leaders of the G20 and the
President of France Nicolas Sarkozy to put employment as a critical part of
recovery from the global financial slump.

Both President Sarkozy and the G20 Leaders at large need to fully focus on
wiping out unemployment but also ensure that no more jobs are lost. The YCL
unconditionally supports the following demands by the Global Union:

· Stop " business and bonus" as usual mentality in the financial
sector.

· Push for businesses to start re-investing and focusing on job
creation

· Ensure that the widening gap between the poor and the rich is
redressed.

· Close tax heavens which fuel inequalities.

· Introduce a financial transactions tax.

· Develop global solidarity and fair working conditions across
markets.

The YCL urges President Jacob Zuma to ensure that he mobilizes global
leaders in that forum to prioritise these matters. We are of the view that
executive salary and bonus cuts are necessary for the purpose of narrowing
the wage gap and socio-economic inequalities.

As the YCL we will incorporate and emphatically ensure that the issue of
job creation forms part of the agenda in the next General Assembly meeting
of the World Federation of Democratic Youth [WFDY] taking place in Lisbon,
Portugal, next week as part of a broader campaign and struggle to deal with
youth unemployment.
