Solidarity Mass Rally with Palestine On the 05th-07th of November 2011, Cape Town will be the host city of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine [RToP] that will examine the violations of International Law by Israel against the Palestinian people. Many important international guests will be witnesses at the tribunal and highlight the terrible crimes committed by Israel against the Palestinians. We will be hosting a Mass Meeting Today at Community House, Salt River at 18H30, to celebrate the presence of our special guests and provide a platform for all of us to engage with them and show our solidarity to the Palestinian struggle. As South Africa, we have experienced the harsh and brutal system of apartheid of severe oppression and exploitation of black people and divide and rule. Through this system, the apartheid regime hoped that white supremacy could reign forever over all the oppressed peoples of this land. But we waged a bitter struggle to defeat apartheid and formed a unitary state within which all people regardless of race, religion or gender can exercise their democratic rights. It is no coincidence that Israel has mastered its own but worse version of apartheid and colonial occupation of the Palestinian having always been an active supporter and collaborator of the then apartheid state. As the Palestinian solidarity campaign, we call upon you to show your solidarity with the Palestinian people. Let’s give a warm welcome to and meet our international guests of the Russell tribunal and Palestinian and Israeli activists such as the radical, Leila Khaled of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Jeff Halper from the Israeli Committee against House Demolitions, Raji Sourani from the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights and the outspoken Zwelinzima Vavi, the General Secretary of COSATU. It is time for us as South Africans to fully take on the campaign of boycotts, disinvestment and sanctions against Israel until it complies with international law and ensures the full democratic and human rights of Palestinians. To this end we would like to mobilize support to pressurise the South African government to play a leading role in the BDS campaign internationally and defend the cause for Palestinian freedom. This is a historical duty on behalf of all South Africans given the role that a similar campaign of international isolation played in ending apartheid. Come One-Come All!
