*YCLSA Gauteng Province Press Briefing *



The Young Communist League of South Africa in the province of Gauteng held
its 3rd Provincial Congress from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 November 2011.



The congress took place among others in the context of:



*1.    High levels of youth unemployment, inequality and poverty;***

*2.    Economic, social, political crises, other effects caused primarily
by the dominant mode of production and suffered by the youth in majority; **
*

*3.    The successful rollout of the all important South African Communist
Party 2011/12 Red October Campaign; ***

*4.    Final examinations in schools, further and higher education
institutions; ***

*5.    Problematic tendencies inside and outside our national liberation
movement; and***

*6.    heightened imperialist aggression including militarism. ***



Congress received and considered reports on these and other matters. In
response it adopted perspectives, resolutions and a guiding programme for
the next three years to be implemented by the organisation in the province.
To take this forward congress elected a new Provincial Executive Committee.



A press briefing to publicly communicate the congress declaration and
announce the newly elected leadership is arranged as follows.

The press briefing will be addressed by newly elected provincial office
bearers and incoming Provincial Head of Organising and Secretariat to be
introduced as part of the new Provincial Executive Committee.
