Media Statement 14th November 2011 POPCRU on CCMA Anniversary POPCRU has congratulated the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration [CCMA] on its 15th Anniversary since its inception within the labour landscape of South Africa. We are elated that the Commission has provided a platform for a conflict-valve mechanism for workplace disputes between employers and employees, however with backlogs on cases and non-enforcement of Arbitration Award by some employers as some of its challenges noted. POPCRU argues that the Commission has served as a bench-mark for many countries whose labour laws are still in construction and we wish the Commission well in its endeavour to jerk its performance, premised on its slogan ‘Revolutionizing Workplace Relations’, and serve the toiling masses.
