*Young Communist League of South Africa in Gauteng Province is opposed to
e-tolling*

**

The Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) in the province of
Gauteng is totally opposed to the e-tolling. As the YCLSA we believe that
the e-tolling stands to serve the interests of finance capital (in
particular from which loans were made) the most.

It is our view that e-tolling will impose harsh conditions over the
working class and the poor, in particular young people. Not only will their
mobility but also livelihoods be affected negatively as a result a
potential increase in consumer goods prices to be triggered by the
e-tolling.

As the YCLSA we call upon government to abandon e-tolling plan and start
prioritising the achievement of integrated, accessible, affordable and safe
public transport. To this end in February 2012 we will start the
mobilisation of young people in the province.
