PHOTO: MOHAU MOFOKENG MEMBERS of the ANC Youth League sang and danced at a packed Naledi Community Hall in Soweto yesterday as part of the league's preparations for the centenary celebrations next month. In his address before starting to sing struggle songs, suspended ANCYL president Julius Malema said: "One individual cannot say I have defeated them. We are still young. If we cannot get you, we will get your children." The crowd joined him to sing Even if they suspend us, ban us, we are going to Mangaung. Last month, Malema was found guilty of bringing the ANC into disrepute and suspended for five years. The league's spokesman Floyd Shivambu was also suspended for three years, while the league's secretary-general, Sindiso Magaqa, was suspended for 18 months. This sanction was in turn suspended for three years. Malema lashed out at the current leadership of the ANC for trying to stifle new ideas from the ANCYL. "When you suspend the youth league, you are suspending the reproduction of the ANC . When you ban the youth league, you are suspending the new ideas. "Those who love the ANC, you cannot sit back and allow the banning and suspension of the reproduction of the revolution," he said. Malema also said the league would not back out on the nationalisation of mines. On his suspension, he said: "Fikile Mbalula said to (former) president Mbeki, 'we do not have a crisis of leadership in the ANC, we are spoiled of leadership.' Mbeki never touched Fikile Mbalula. Actually, Mbalula proceeded to remove Mbeki with all of you in Polokwane. "The ANC is turning 100. What made the ANC to turn 100 years is the unity, robust and open debate.
