The congress was attended by approximately 300 delegates from Ephraim Mogale, Harold Bolobela, Gert Sibande and Phillip Radebe district. The congress theme was “in praise of communism, Young people first and YCL to the battlefield to build a socialist South Africa”. Notably the congress passed almost unnoticed in the certainly because of the high level of discipline and unity in action demonstrated by all delegates. Thereof they have recommended thee congress inter-allia considered the league building, economic and social transformation, gender transformation, fundraising, International relations and Ideological work and therefore declared to all sundry to know as follows: That the formations of young people like Young Communist League and African National Congress Youth League should be at the forefront of youth struggle against patronage, youth exploitation and political demagoguery. The congress shall call on young people to rally around the programme of progress forces in the province fighting against corruption, political assassination and the looting of state resources which led to the usage of these resources to manipulate political process and undermine internal democracy within the movement. The congress believe that political and economical emancipation within the present economic system for young people is near impossible, true economic freedom for young people can only be achieved through the destruction of capitalism and be replaced by the establishment of socialist economy. We call on our government in the province to prioritise youth empowerment through expedite the establishment of the university in the province, creation of youth co-operations and funding of youth initiatives to reduce poverty and unemployment. We further call on all progressive youth formations in the province to be in the forefront on the fight against the cult of personality which is the basis of political paralyses the youth politics are experiencing, which will lead to young people in general to lose confidence in our youth alliance formations. The congress further reminded the Young Communist League in Mpumalanga that it’s the youth wing of the SACP and derives its existence from the SACP and further committee itself and members to work together with the South African Communist Party in the province.
