Media Statement 13th January 2012 POPCRU perturbed by Cop Tsotsi’s POPCRU has noted the recent arrests of men and women in blue uniform around the country on various allegations of extortion, bribery, armed robbery and/or corruption. And the most worrying development is the recent arrest in full view by the public of three Police Officers and the other one later at home. We content that these unprofessional, unbecoming and improper acts undermine the prudent efforts rendered on an 24 hours period by public service cadreship within the South African Police Services and other Law Enforcement Agencies. We have welcomed the recent arrests of suspects in the inner city of Johannesburg in possession of drugs, the Modimolle suspect on family killings and others. POPCRU reiterates as per the 07th National Congress Resolutions in 2011 at Bloemfontein that discipline within the service at large must be upheld, to realize the restoration of the honour of the police badge, the integrity of the service and respect for the rule of law. Inculcating sound public service cadreship ethos is a vision we are committed to in line with the spirit of other efforts done in the country such as the National Anti-Corruption Commission.
