23rd January 2012 THE PASSING AWAY OF COMRADE JACOB HLANYANE
Revolutionary Greetings, It is with great sadness that the South African Communist Party in SEdibeng District announce the untimely departure of the veteran of our movement Cde Jacob Hlanyane. Cde Hlanyane has selflessly served this movement without expecting any payment from it. Cde Hlanyane is one of the Delmas Treason Trialists, the longest trial in the history of South Africa in 1985 wherein the Apartheid South Africa wanted to suppress United Democratic Front (UDF) by arresting its leadership. Some of his o-accused in this trial were Popo Molefe, Rev Moselane, Gcina Malindi, Frank Chikane, Jerry Tlhopane, Terror Lekota. Cde Hlanyane has been a dedicated communist and a member of the then Evaton branch who never aspired for higher positions in the movement and in the SACP. He passes away at the time the SACP is undergoing its renconfiguration, into Voting District (VD) based branches, to respond to current political and ideological challenges. This is a task he was passionate about and gave all his strength to up until his last days. He shunned opulence through corruption and patronage and opted to belong with the poor majority even during the time he was not serving them as a councillor. The energetic and selfless dedication to UDF, the ANC and the SACP is one legacy that Cde Hlanyane is leaving behind. We also extend our condolences to his family and reaffirm to them that the SACP is their family as it was to Comrade Hlanyane. As the SACP we will forever cherish the rich history he leaves behind and ensure that it is told to generations to come. He will be buried this Saturday the 28th January 2012 in Zone 03 Sebokeng and the service will start at 07H00 and the cortege will leave shortly before 09h00.
