*Press Statement of the YCLSA*
** 24 February 2012 *A Call for Discipline Within the Movement* ** The Young Communist league of South Africa [Ufasimba] during the Lekgotla stated its decision not to be involved in the affairs of other formations within the Alliance. With that in mind, the behaviour that was displayed in Cape Town during the ANC Centenary Celebrations dedicated to Sefako Makgatho, deserves the strongest possible rebuke and condemnation by all committed revolutionary forces within our movement. The disrespect that was displayed at the lecture against the memory of the second President, his family, the President and the leadership collective of the African National Congress is a direct provocation and highest form of ill-discipline that should never at any point be tolerated within the movement and our society. We applaud President Zuma and the other participants for not allowing these unruly mobs, using the name of the ANC Youth League and its President, not to be diverted and in a disciplined manner, continued with the celebrations. We wish the cameraman of the SABC, Rudy Le Roux, and a speedy recovery. *Memory of Makgatho Insulted* ** To spit at the memory of a legacy of the African National Congress should be cursed and the perpetrators should be brought to book and be rooted out of the African National Congress, its structures and its allies as these are the parasites that suck the life out of our glorious movement. *Need for Revolutionary Discipline* ** It must be emphasised that without revolutionary discipline rooted in revolutionary theory and practise there is no organisation. The discipline that is demanded of members of the movement is not just observance of rules but is an inspired conscious observance of the rules, culture and traditions of the organisation. All members are expected to at all times despite whatever conditions they find themselves in, adhere to such discipline or leave if they feel they cannot handle the heat. Such behaviour was last witnessed when the ANC was about to expel Bantu Holomisa, and also when some individuals resigned to go and form Cope. Just like then, this energy will fizzle, and the movement will self-correct. No one is above any structure of the Alliance. Today, all of these individuals are history. This is also the behaviour our National Lekgotla warned against, and cautioned that such should not be allowed within the movement as they demoralise genuine cadres and the general society on our capacity to lead society, and the youth in general, towards a united, democratic and prosperous society. We call on all young people to declare in their numbers that “We belong to no individual; we belong to the movement of the people. We will never be bought at the counter of self-serving tenderpreneurs and elements of the new tendency. High Moral! High Discipline! *Issued by the YCLSA* ** Mangaliso Stalin Khonza National Spokesperson Young Communist League of SA Cell: 083 617 5546 Tel(w): 011 339 3621 E-mail: [email protected] -- You are subscribed.
