*SASCO GAUTENG STATEMENT ON THE COSATU MARCH* *“Join the COSATU march in defence of the poor and in defiance of neo liberalism” *
*06 March 2012* Consistent with our bias to the working class and the poor, SASCO Gauteng pledges its unconditional support to the COSATU march on the 7th, the general strike against the vice labour brokering system and the impending roll out of the e-tolls in Gauteng. We believe that both labour broking and the e-tolling system are products of a neo-liberal offence by capital with the aid of collaborators in government to accumulate at the expense of the South African working class. *Labour Brokers * We maintain that labour brokers are modern day slave masters who exploit the vulnerable and needy through a despotic labour practice which donates half of the worker’s salary to the slave master at the end of the month. SASCO is committed to the abolishment of these brutal capitalist institutions and given our understanding that power concedes nothing without struggle we believe that this protest is of great importance and will go a long way in restoring the dignity of the poor in South Africa *E-tolling * We dismiss the liberal response of government to e-tolls and the defective left rhetoric that this will only affect the rich due to the exemption of buses and taxis. As committed Marxists, we know that although buses and taxis will be exempted for paying the fees directly the poor and the working class will still be presented to the altar of capital and bear the brunt of this illegal scheme through increase in basic commodities, petrol and food etc. SASCO in Gauteng urges all students across the province and members of society to join hands with COSATU in defence of the vulnerable and in defiance of this malign neo-liberal energy which undermines the voices and the working class. SASCO in the province vows to hold back no punches in defending the disenfranchised and the underprivileged and we will continue to be critical of collaborators who use working class organisations for their upward eco-political mobility. We urge all citizens of Gauteng to participate in the protest and defy this class project. *For more information contact * *Ndumiso Mokako SASCO Gauteng Chairperson* *083 713 9432* *Nhlamulo Siwela SASCO Gauteng Secretary * *072 486 4757 * -- Gugu Ndima +27 76 783 1516 -- You are subscribed.
